Famous G20 Driver

Ping is an American brand of high-quality golf equipment, as well as one of the largest of the remaining American manufacturers of golf clubs, based in Phoenix, Arizona, founded by Karsten Solheim, who was an engineer at the General Electric Company. In 1959, he started making his own putters in his garage in Redwood City, California. In 1967, because of increasing demand for his putters, he resigned his job at General Electric in order to fully develop the Ping Company. Currently, PING produces clubs in every equipment category: drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges and putters.

The ping g20 driver has a slightly wider face than the G15 and at address the head appears bigger, although not quite as large as the K15. This g20 driver is achieved by a shallower crown and also visually by a lighter metallic silver finish. It's interesting that Ping have moved away from black to something slightly lighter. Ping G20 driver does look very good but is a little more reflective in bright conditions when compared to the previous black color.

Why the g20 driver is so famous? The reasons are that there are some features and advantages. The external weighting of the ping g20 helps launch the ball high with low spin for maximum distance and accuracy. Distance is generated with a new version of ping's proprietary high-balance-point shaft technology, which allows the golfer to swing a heavier head at the same speed with a high moment of inertia. The clubface on the 460cc head is larger, creating more forgiveness across the hitting area and the G20's head rotation is neutral, allowing the golfer to deliver the clubface straight at impact.

Had the opportunity to hit the G20 Wednesday, I also brought G15 in the golf stores to compare. I hit about a dozen with each. The data on the screen showed the G20 to be about 4 yards longer with a little tighter dispersion pattern. Not sure if the $299 price is worth 4 more yards. The G20 felt the same as my G15. Both have the stock shafts. It is just my observations.
